At the end of February one of our favorite families came to visit for the weekend, the Curby's. We started the weekend off by driving into the mountains. We stayed in an awesome condo at the base or Keystone. Hot-tubbing the first night, looking up at all the night skiers was pretty magical. Most of our crew went out skiing while Julie, Halen & I stayed behind to explore the town of Keystone. We met up with Uncle Glenn, daddy and Enna for lunch and then we packed up to head back to Denver for the alumni hockey game.
The arena was awesome and a fun night. The Detroit Red Wings won the alumni game, which was fun to watch altogether. Uncle Glenn was having one of the best nights of his life. The next day we checked out a few fun breweries and then went to the big hockey game Detroit Red Wings vs. Denver Avalanche, the Avalanche ended up winning, but it was a fun game to watch. It didn't snow at all so the marketing people glued sheets of cotton all over the floor by the arena. At one point in the night the wind was blowing pretty hard and the sheets of cotton were blowing everywhere, it was pretty entertaining.
In the mornings Halen would cuddle with daddy, snuggle with Enna, help Uncle Glenn with his sudoku and love on Julie. We had a great weekend.

Weekend in the Mountains with Enna
Our beloved college student, Enna, Godmother of our oldest daughter drove up for a weekend in January, right after we got our Explorer. We took the back way on 285 through the windy mountain roads, enjoying the head-turning views for a few hours. Once arrived I dropped off Enna and Evan to ski the slopes on Keystone's mountain.
The next day I dropped those rusty skiers off again to embrace the cool mountain air and spectacular sights. Halen and I enjoyed the pool and hotel. I was still pretty giddy about my new SUV, especially after having a small car for so long. I loved all the bells and whistles. Then we took Thunder (our Explorer's name) into Breckenridge to walk around and eat at infamous Eric's Downstairs.
We headed back into reality with the mountains in our rear view mirror.
Great weekend away!
Babymoon: Denver to Austin
Before our second daughter, Henley, was born we decided to take a trip from our current home of suburban Denver to our hometown of Austin. Mainly because all the grandparents were located there and could help entertain our first daughter, Halen. So off we went.
We plugged in our traveling diffuser with Peace & Calming from YoungLiving to take the edge off. And we drove through a wicked, side wind snowstorm from our house to Raton, NM. Certainly made things interesting to start our road trip. And made us very happy to be in our new-to-us Explorer with four wheel drive. Before our Explorer we'd be slipping and sliding all over the road.
We spent our first night in Dumas, TX in a decent hotel and had Texas shaped waffles for breakfast the next morning. We made it into Austin and dropped our toddler off with Yaya and enjoyed 5 days of kid free adult fun. Our Explorer took us downtown to snack on delicious tacos, sip bubbly beverages and cozy up in a darling boutique hotel bed...all things we wouldn't normally be able to enjoy with an almost-two-year-old.
Then after a week of babymooning we started the trek back to Colorado. We stopped in Dumas again and then arrived back in the Centennial state.
Great trip!
